Free RTC travel for exam students with hall ticket: Ponnam Prabhakar

Hyderabad: Free RTC travel exam students will be allowed across the State on production of hall tickets, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced on Tuesday.

He said students appearing for Intermediate and Class 10 examinations could travel in RTC buses and get down at any stop near their examination centres. The Minister added that RTC had taken all necessary measures to prevent inconvenience during the exam season.

He chaired a review meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat to assess RTC arrangements. Intermediate examinations will begin on February 25, while Class 10 exams will start from March 14.

Free RTC travel exam students during peak hours

The Minister directed officials to operate additional buses during morning and afternoon exam hours. He said the review was conducted as per Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s instructions to ensure smooth transport services for students.

He asked RTC authorities to take special care of students travelling from rural areas to examination centres. Accordingly, officials extended bus operations to interior areas to improve access.

Importantly, he directed that buses must stop near examination centres even if there is no designated bus stop. Students can use their hall tickets to request stoppage near centres, he clarified.

The Minister instructed depot managers to inform drivers and conductors about the facility. He urged students to use the free RTC travel exam students provision without anxiety and focus on performing well in their examinations.

Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, RTC Managing Director Nagi Reddy, RTC Executive Directors and other senior officials attended the meeting.
