Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday directed forest and police officials to stay off ROFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) lands, warning against interference in areas legally cultivated by farmers. He said those farming under the Act are protected from official intrusion.
Reviewing monsoon preparedness and relief in Kothagudem with ministers, MPs, MLAs and officials from Khammam and Kothagudem districts, Vikramarka also detailed upcoming welfare initiatives.
He said farmers cultivating ROFR lands would receive solar pumps, drip irrigation, sprinklers, and free horticulture inputs under the Indira Soura Giri Jalavikasam scheme. The scheme, with a planned outlay of ₹12,600 crore over three years, aims to boost sustainable agriculture in tribal and forested regions.
The Deputy CM criticised delays in MLA proposals for Panchayat Raj and R&B roads despite the government sanctioning ₹20,000 crore for infrastructure. On urea availability, he assured there was no shortage and urged the public not to panic.
He said subsidised rice was reaching all families and that 85% of rural homes were now freed from electricity bills under the 200 units free power scheme. On the Indiramma Housing Scheme, he announced construction of 6.5 lakh homes in Phase 1 — 3,500 per constituency — with ₹5 lakh allocated per unit, totalling ₹22,500 crore. Weekly fund releases are ready, pending construction commencement.
He proposed celebrating the traditional Muggulu festival with two girls in each community and directed officials to promote fish seed farming via women’s self-help groups. Telangana currently imports 89 crore fish seed annually. Local SHG-led production could cut costs and generate rural employment, he said.
On floods, he said the Godavari situation was under control but called for readiness. He instructed round-the-clock control rooms, stocked life jackets, and immediate flood relief planning across districts.
