FDDI Hyderabad convocation highlights design and innovation

Hyderabad: The FDDI Hyderabad convocation marked the graduation of 72 students, with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy urging them to focus on innovation, sustainability and global competitiveness.

The Footwear Design and Development Institute organised its fifth convocation ceremony at its Hyderabad campus auditorium. The event celebrated the Class of 2025 and brought together faculty, industry partners and parents.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, G Kishan Reddy said India was emerging as a global leader in manufacturing, innovation and skill development. He highlighted the footwear and leather sector as a key contributor to employment, exports and MSME growth. He urged graduates to leverage technology, sustainable practices and design innovation to strengthen India’s global standing.

The ceremony was presided over by Vivek Sharma (IRS), Managing Director of FDDI. He congratulated the graduating students and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to producing globally competent professionals.

FDDI Hyderabad convocation showcases campus growth since 2018

Executive Director Dr Tej Lohit Reddy (IAS), in his welcome address, outlined the Hyderabad campus’ progress since its establishment in 2018. He cited milestones such as the creation of a Centre of Excellence, advanced laboratories and stronger industry collaborations.

During the FDDI Hyderabad convocation, degrees were conferred on students from Fashion Design, Footwear Design, Leather Goods and Accessories Design, and Management programmes. Gold and silver medals were awarded to meritorious students. The ceremony concluded with the convocation oath administered in the presence of dignitaries.

Speakers said the institute continued to strengthen India’s footwear, leather, fashion and retail ecosystem through skill development, research and industry integration. They also emphasised sustainability, entrepreneurship and adherence to global standards in design and manufacturing.
