Election officials dismiss fake voter ID claims in Jubilee Hills

Hyderabad: Election officials on Monday rejected social media allegations of fake or duplicate voter ID cards in the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency. They said the claims stemmed from outdated visuals.

Authorities explained that the cards shown in the videos were old, vertically oriented EPIC cards issued in previous years. The Election Commission of India now issues a horizontal-format EPIC card across the country.

Police have registered a case at Tolichowki Police Station under Crime No. 219/2025. The investigation will focus on the origin and intent of the video circulation.

The District Election Officer in Hyderabad also reviewed preparations for the Jubilee Hills byelection, set for November 11. Officials said all arrangements meet ECI guidelines and will ensure smooth polling.
