₹5 lakh ex-gratia announced for Nampally fire victims

Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday announced ₹5 lakh ex-gratia to each family of the five people who died in the Nampally fire incident. He directed the Hyderabad District Collector to ensure the timely release of compensation to the victims’ families.

The Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He instructed Collector Hari Chandana to expedite disbursement and strengthen fire safety enforcement. He also called for strict security protocols to prevent similar incidents.

Nampally fire victims’ aid follows owner’s arrest, safety review

Srinivas Reddy revealed that preliminary findings pointed to negligence by the shop owner. The shop owner has since been taken into custody. Furthermore, he stated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible for the tragedy.

The Minister emphasised the need for urgent reforms in building fire safety compliance and reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting public safety through preventive action and legal accountability.
