Elderly woman severely injured by banned Chinese manja in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 70-year-old woman suffered serious leg injuries after getting entangled in banned Chinese manja. This happened while she walked along Almasguda main road in Meerpet, under the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits.

The incident occurred when Yadamma, a local resident, was walking beside the road. A stray strand of manja wrapped around her leg. The sharp synthetic thread caused a deep cut, leading to heavy bleeding. Locals nearby rushed to her aid and shifted her to a private hospital.

She is currently undergoing treatment.

Chinese manja injury triggers safety concerns

Despite repeated bans on Chinese manja, such incidents continue to endanger lives in the city. Locals expressed concern over recurring injuries. They demanded that authorities crack down harder on the sale and use of the banned material.
