Hyderabad: BJP MP Eatala Rajender faced a series of questions from the PC Ghose Commission on Friday, as part of the ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
Rajender, who served as Finance Minister in the Telangana government during the project’s construction, appeared before the Commission at BRK Bhavan in Hyderabad to respond to queries about financial approvals, cabinet decisions, and fund releases linked to the project.
Sources said the Commission sought clarifications on key decisions taken during his tenure, focusing on the release of funds for barrage construction and the financial protocols followed at the time. The inquiry comes in the wake of earlier testimonies by serving and retired engineers, chief engineers, and IAS officers, who had flagged several regulatory lapses and financial discrepancies in their statements.
Investigators grilled Rajender on whether these alleged irregularities were overlooked or enabled by the finance department during his stint.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife that the Commission is gearing up to question former Minister Harish Rao on 9 June, followed by former Chief Minister KCR on 11 June moves that could further intensify the probe into the project’s execution.
