Hyderabad: Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy on Monday raised the issue of urea shortage in the Assembly. He mentioned that farmers in his constituency were facing serious hardship. He demanded that the government allow offline distribution of urea. This was because many farmers were struggling with the app-based system.
During the Question Hour, he said paddy cultivation had doubled this season across the eight mandals in Dubbak. However, farmers were anxious due to uncertainty over urea availability. “The app is creating confusion. Urea must be supplied directly without making farmers rely on technology,” he said.
Prabhakar Reddy added that irregular power supply in villages was worsening farm operations. He also flagged poor maintenance of irrigation canals. He stated that silt had blocked flow in Kondagattu Sagar, Mallanna Sagar, and Kondapochamma Sagar canals.

Kotha Prabhakar Reddy alleged that farmers depending on these canals were suffering. This was due to the government’s negligence in removing silt. He criticised the irrigation minister for not holding any reviews. Furthermore, he said even harvested grain was not being picked up from farmers.
The MLA urged the state to address the concerns of farmers across all eight mandals and ensure timely input and water supply.
