Hyderabad: Hyderabad police booked 1,198 cases related to drunk driving during New Year celebrations following special checks carried out across the city.
Police conducted intensive checks from Wednesday night until early Thursday morning across the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate. The drive aimed to prevent road accidents involving drunk driving during the New Year celebrations.

The checks continue across Hyderabad areas
In several localities, drunken behavior created trouble for the police. Incidents involving intoxicated persons, including drunk driving, caused tension in areas such as Nampally and Vanasthalipuram.
However, police controlled the situation and registered cases against those involved in driving under the influence. Officers said the checks focused on preventing road accidents and protecting lives.
Police officials warned that driving while drunk would invite strict legal action. They also emphasized that similar checks would continue in the coming days to deter such violations.
At the same time, police urged citizens to act responsibly and cooperate on road safety. Despite awareness ahead of New Year celebrations, officials noted that the behavior of some motorists, including drunk driving, remained unchanged.
