Hyderabad: Chandrayangutta police arrested a 23-year-old auto-rickshaw driver who threatened traffic police with a snake during a drunk driving check, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place on January 3 at around 9.30 pm at the Chandrayangutta intersection. Traffic police stopped the auto-rickshaw during a routine drunk driving check. A breathalyser test showed an alcohol reading of 150.
Police registered a drunk driving case and seized the auto-rickshaw. Soon after, the driver became aggressive and created a disturbance at the checkpoint.

Chandrayangutta police registered a separate case based on a complaint from traffic police. Officers traced the accused and arrested him. Police identified him as Syed Irfan, son of Syed Hussain, a resident of Pahadishareef.
The station inspector said police booked Irfan for drunk driving, causing public nuisance, and obstructing police duty. Police also recorded a video apology from the accused. In the video, Irfan apologised and promised not to repeat the act or consume alcohol again. Police said legal proceedings will continue.
