Disqualification hearings for defection MLAs begin in Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly on Monday began disqualification hearings against 10 MLAs who won on BRS tickets but later joined the Congress party. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar initiated the process under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.

Four MLAs summoned for direct hearings today

Rajendranagar MLA T. Prakash Goud was the first to appear, represented by his legal counsel. Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah is scheduled between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., followed by Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy will appear between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., each accompanied by their advocates.

The complainants BRS MLAs Kalvakuntla Sanjay, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, and Chinta Prabhakar are also attending the tribunal proceedings.

Speaker enforces strict controls during inquiry

The Assembly Secretariat announced special restrictions during the hearings, which will remain in force until October 6. Only petitioners, respondents, and their legal teams are allowed inside the tribunal hall.

Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited inside the courtroom. Any attempt to record the proceedings or take photographs will result in phones being confiscated, according to the official directive.
