₹50 crore plan to revamp Dharmapuri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will redevelop the historic Dharmapuri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple with a ₹50 crore outlay, Endowments Minister Konda Surekha announced. She instructed officials to align all work with Agama Shastra, Vedic customs, and local devotional sentiments.

On Monday, Minister Surekha conducted a review meeting on the temple’s master plan. Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer, Endowments Director Harish, senior officials, and the temple EO were present.

She noted that the temple houses a swayambhu idol and holds deep spiritual value as a site visited by sages and deities. Therefore, she directed the team to treat the development work as both a religious and cultural responsibility.

Looking ahead, she asked officials to begin planning for the Godavari Pushkaralu in July 2027. Calling it South India’s version of the Kumbh Mela, she stressed the need for permanent infrastructure to handle large pilgrim crowds. She also said riverfront temples must receive priority attention.

In addition, the minister emphasized creating well-equipped bathing ghats and basic amenities for the expected lakhs of pilgrims. She personally reviewed land acquisition needs tied to the master plan and insisted that every structure meets high construction standards.

Minister Laxman Kumar thanked Konda Surekha for giving priority to development in his constituency. He assured full support for land acquisition and said joint efforts would ensure a successful Pushkaralu.
