Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man died by suicide in Mulugu district after repeatedly raising concerns over alleged irregularities in the Indiramma housing scheme. The incident has triggered widespread grief and anger in Chalvai village, Govindraopet mandal.
Chukka Ramesh was found hanging at his home on Thursday morning. According to relatives, he had been posting messages for two months in a local WhatsApp group, alleging that deserving beneficiaries were being denied houses through corrupt practices. Ramesh reportedly grew frustrated with what he described as official negligence toward the rightful allottees.
Family members said tempers flared on the WhatsApp group and village elders filed complaints against him. Pasra police reportedly seized Ramesh’s phone on Wednesday night and directed him to appear at the station the next day. Believing he was being falsely implicated, Ramesh became deeply distressed and took his own life, relatives claimed.
The suicide sparked protests on National Highway 163, with villagers and family members expressing outrage that action was being taken against a person who was only trying to raise a genuine housing issue. They demanded a full investigation and action against officials responsible, and also sought fair compensation and justice for Ramesh’s family.
