Daughter steals gold, abandons mother in Jagityal forest

HYDERABAD: In a deeply distressing incident that has left residents of Jagityal district shocked, an elderly woman was abandoned in a dense forest by her own daughter, who first stripped her mother of her gold ornaments.

The incident took place in the district headquarters, where Budhavva and her daughter Ishwari were residing in Islampur Street. Despite raising her daughter with immense hardship, Budhavva fell victim to an act of betrayal.
Driven by greed, Ishwari hatched a plan to seize her mother’s gold. Two days ago, she lured Budhavva to the outskirts of Sriramulapalle village in Gollapally mandal under the pretext of a visit. Once deep inside the forest, Ishwari forcibly removed the jewellery from her mother’s neck and abandoned her before fleeing the scene.

Disoriented, without food or water, Budhavva wandered aimlessly in the forest for two days until she collapsed in an unconscious state. Fortunately, some passersby noticed her and immediately alerted local authorities.
She was rescued and shifted to the Sakhi Centre in Sriramulapalle and later taken to the district hospital for medical care. Her condition is said to be stable.

The inhumane act has sparked public outrage, with many locals demanding strict action against the daughter. “A mother who raised her child with sacrifice was left to die for a few ornaments—this cruelty must not go unpunished,” a resident remarked.

Authorities are expected to initiate legal proceedings against the daughter following a formal complaint.
