Cyberabad Police conduct special drive to remove deadly manja with public support

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police launched a special safety drive on Saturday to clear hazardous kite strings (manja) from trees, roads, poles, and buildings. Citizens and walkers joined the effort in large numbers across several police station limits. They helped remove deadly manja from public areas.

The operation took place in Gachibowli, Ameenpur, Patancheru, Kollur, and IDA Bollaram. Police teams and volunteers worked together to remove deadly manja from streets and public spaces. They aimed to prevent injuries and fatalities caused by the dangerous kite string.

Cyberabad manja removal drive sees mass public involvement

In Gachibowli, three police teams teamed up with residents of Kondapur and Masjid Banda. They cleared rooftops, poles, trees, and power lines. At the same time, they educated the public about the dangers of using banned manja and encouraged everyone to remove deadly manja whenever it is found.

At Ameenpur, 150 walkers participated in the clean-up at Ilapur Ground and Tulasivanam Colony. Officers stressed that buying, selling, or using banned kite string is a punishable offence.

Patancheru police worked with locals at Maitri Ground, Saki Cheruvu, and the government hospital. Kollur teams cleared manja near ORR radial road and Ozone Heights Ground. Meanwhile, IDA Bollaram police removed glass-coated threads from roads in their area to safeguard citizens. They also removed deadly manja from vulnerable spots.

Police warned that manufacturing, stocking, or using lethal kite string especially Chinese manja is strictly illegal. They urged citizens to report sightings to Dial 100 or the nearest police station. Officials also advised the public to carefully remove hanging manja and dispose of it safely.
