Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Central Crime Station (CCS) has recovered 827 stolen and lost mobile phones in 45 days, valued at ₹2 crore, and returned them to their owners in the latest phase of its mobile recovery drive.
The operation, led by DCP Crimes A. Muthyam Reddy, marks the eighth recovery phase conducted using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. The recovered phones were distributed at a formal ceremony held at the Cyberabad Police Auditorium on Tuesday.
Breakdown of zone-wise recoveries: Madhapur CCS – 180, Balanagar – 174, Medchal – 176, Rajendranagar – 153, Shamshabad – 144.
Muthyam Reddy urged the public to report lost or stolen phones at local police stations or through the CEIR portal. He noted the importance of recovery, given the sensitive data and emotional value many devices hold.

Since the inception of the drive, 6,233 mobile phones have been recovered across all eight phases. The CEIR portal, accessible across India, has been key to these efforts.
He also warned citizens against cyber fraud, advising them to avoid suspicious links and to report cases at the cybercrime helpline 1930 or through cybercrime.gov.in.
Two beneficiaries who received their recovered devices thanked the police for the prompt assistance one had lost a phone gifted by his son, another was an IT worker whose phone went missing at a market.
The DCP credited Crimes-1 ADCP Ram Kumar, CCS ACP K. Nageshwar Rao, and CCS Inspectors Sanjeev (Madhapur), Pavan (Shamshabad), Ravikumar (Balanagar), Dalinaidu (Medchal), and P. Rajesh (Rajendranagar), along with CCS staff, for their role in the successful operation.
