Hyderabad Police Commissioner hails inauguration of Young India Police School

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand on Thursday described the inauguration of the Young India Police School (YIPS) by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as an “unforgettable day” not just for him personally, but for the entire Telangana police force.

In a social media post, Commissioner Anand highlighted the significance of the initiative, which aims to provide high-quality education, sports, and co-curricular “learning by doing” opportunities for the children of police personnel—ranging from Home Guards to Additional SPs—at an affordable annual fee of ₹50,000 to ₹95,000. The fee includes uniforms, sportswear, shoes, books, and bags.

“This marks a new beginning in police welfare and inclusive education,” Anand wrote, commending the government’s support and vision behind the project.

While the current school operates from a temporary campus, Anand informed that construction of a permanent 50-acre residential campus will begin soon and is expected to be completed within two years. The state-of-the-art facility will include residential amenities and is envisioned to operate on par with international standards.

As part of its inclusive model, 50 percent of the seats will be reserved for civilian students, who will pay a higher fee. Importantly, Anand noted that YIPS will function independently, without depending on future government funding. It will be managed by the YIPES Society, which will oversee operations and ensure the school runs as a self-sustaining institution offering excellence in education.

The initiative has been widely praised as a milestone in public service welfare and a forward-looking model for educational inclusion.
