HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) – CPI(M) has demanded an impartial investigation into the custodial death of Sampath, a resident of Jagityal district.
State Secretary John Wesley urged the state government to respond promptly and conduct a comprehensive inquiry led by a sitting judge.
Sampath was taken into custody by Nizamabad Cyber Crime police officers on allegations of defrauding unemployed individuals by promising overseas employment. During the interrogation process, he reportedly died suddenly. Family members have alleged that Sampath was subjected to severe physical abuse while in police custody, resulting in his death, and that his body bore significant injuries. They also claimed they were denied permission to see him.
John Wesly emphasized that police brutality under the guise of interrogation sends a negative signal to society. He called on the Chief Minister to initiate an investigation by a sitting judge and to take stringent action against any officers found responsible for Sampath’s death.
