Hyderabad: The Congress released its list of star campaigners for the ongoing municipal elections on Thursday.
According to party leaders, TPCC chief and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud submitted the list to the State Election Commission. The party named 20 leaders as star campaigners.
The list included AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. It also featured Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
In addition, senior ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodar Raja Narasimha, Sridhar Babu, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Ponnam Prabhakar figured in the list. Ministers Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, Konda Surekha, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Jupally Krishna Rao were also included.
Further, the party named G. Vivekanand, Adluri Laxman Kumar, Vakiti Srihari, Mohammed Azharuddin, CWC special invitee Vamsi Chand Reddy, and former MP Hanumanth Rao.
Congress screening committees and poll preparations
Meanwhile, the TPCC announced screening committees for the municipal elections. TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud released the committee list on Thursday.
The party formed the screening committees across parliamentary constituencies. Accordingly, ministers in charge headed the committees as chairpersons.
At the same time, District Congress Committee presidents acted as conveners. MPs, MLAs, MLCs, constituency in-charges, and corporation chairpersons joined as members.
Moreover, TPCC office-bearers and frontal organisation heads participated as special invitees. Party sources said the committees had already begun meetings.
Therefore, the screening panels started finalising candidate names. With Friday fixed as the last date for nominations, the selection process reached its final stage.
Earlier in the day, Congress leaders held a review meeting at Gandhi Bhavan. The meeting focused on municipal election preparations in the Nizamabad parliamentary constituency.
During the meeting, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy discussed strategy and local conditions. They also urged party workers to act together to win public confidence.
Later, government advisers Shabbir Ali and Sudarshan Reddy joined the discussions. MLA Bhoopathi Reddy, MLC Balmur Venkat, DCC presidents Nagesh Reddy and Ramakrishna, and senior leaders also attended.
