HYDERABAD – Telangana Congress Members of Parliament have expressed dissatisfaction with the Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In a media interaction in Delhi on Saturday, MPs Mallu Ravi, Chamal Kiran Kumar Reddy, Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy, and Gaddam Vamshi voiced their concerns.
They alleged that the budget was crafted with an eye on the upcoming Delhi and Bihar elections, noting that Bihar was mentioned five times, while Telangana and its projects, such as the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, were conspicuously absent. They also highlighted the omission of commitments made during the state’s bifurcation, including the establishment of a tribal university.
The MPs criticised the budget for appearing to favour business interests, neglecting pressing issues like unemployment and the needs of farmers and the poor. They pointed out that, despite previous requests for a second airport in Telangana, there was no mention of it in the budget.
Furthermore, they questioned why funds were allocated for a housing board in Bihar but not for the construction of the Bhadrachalam temple in Telangana. The MPs concluded by labelling the budget as a complete failure, accusing the central government of using it to gain electoral advantage in Delhi and Bihar, while neglecting the southern states, particularly Telangana.
