Congress MP slams Bandi Sanjay remarks on bypoll

Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy criticised Bandi Sanjay remarks over the BJP’s loss in the Jubilee Hills by-election. He said the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs had been careless in his comments and indifferent to ministerial responsibility.

He condemned the call that “all Hindus” should align with the BJP regardless of political affiliation. He argued that such appeals risked division and urged a shift to development-focused messaging.

Reddy said the BJP even lost its deposit in the Jubilee Hills by-election within the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, represented by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. He added that the BJP’s vote share declined compared to the Assembly elections.

He asked Bandi Sanjay to clarify whether the BJP secretly supported the BRS in the bypoll. If party leaders lacked clarity, he said, they should first discuss the matter internally.

He stated that Naveen Yadav did not win the by-election solely on votes from any one caste or religion. Voters from across communities supported him, he said.

Reddy urged both Union Ministers, G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, to bring funds to Telangana. He asked them to press Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for support.

He also sought Union cooperation on Hyderabad Metro expansion, the Regional Ring Road and the Musi Rejuvenation initiative. He said coordinated Centre–State action would help address urban mobility and river restoration priorities.
