Hyderabad: Labour and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy declared that the Congress party is gaining ground across Telangana. He urged Congress-supported sarpanch candidates to ensure a decisive win in the upcoming local elections.
Speaking at a meeting in Gajwel with Congress-backed candidates, Dr. Vivek said the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has lost its foothold in rural areas. He asserted that the Congress faces little challenge from the BRS, whose cadre he described as significantly weakened in villages.
Dr. Vivek criticised former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, accusing him of misleading the public with unfulfilled promises of double-bedroom houses. “In ten years of BRS rule, only a fraction of the promised houses were completed,” he said.
He credited the Congress for effectively implementing welfare schemes and ensuring the distribution of ration cards. Emphasising the party’s administrative performance, he claimed that the benefits have reached the people directly. This has happened under the current Congress-led government.
500 more Indiramma houses sought in Siddipet
The Minister said that in Siddipet district alone, an additional 500 Indiramma houses need to be sanctioned beyond the 3,000 already allocated. He also called for coordinated grassroots efforts, urging party workers and candidates to work collectively and ensure a clean sweep for Congress in Gajwel.
He concluded by stressing party unity and encouraging the cadre to demonstrate Congress’s renewed strength through the upcoming sarpanch elections.
