Congress committed to farmers’ welfare, says TPCC chief on Farmers’ Day

Hyderabad: TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud extended National Farmers’ Day greetings on Tuesday. He reiterated that the Congress party remains firmly committed to farmers’ welfare. According to him, farmers are the nation’s backbone, and their efforts power India’s growth.

Speaking on behalf of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, Goud paid tribute to the country’s annadatas. He noted that the Congress has always supported farmers and continues to fight for their rights. On this occasion, he highlighted the need to safeguard their dignity through supportive policies.

He pointed out that the party is prioritising loan waivers, the Rythu Bharosa scheme, fair crop prices, and irrigation rights. Moreover, he accused the BJP-led Centre of ignoring agricultural issues. He argued that the promise of doubling farmers’ income has remained unfulfilled.

Congress in Telangana focuses on irrigation and farmer relief

Goud further said rising prices of fertilizer, diesel, and seeds are worsening farmers’ financial stress. In his view, the BJP’s policies lack real impact on the ground. Therefore, farmers are not seeing any meaningful relief.

He stated that the Congress government in Telangana is acting with urgency. It has already launched Rythu Bharosa and started restoring irrigation systems. As a result, farmers are regaining confidence.

“Farmer welfare is at the heart of the Congress mission,” Goud said. He added that every policy aims to protect farmers’ self-respect and ensure sustainable progress. In conclusion, he stressed that only when farmers prosper can the nation truly advance.
