Congress dominates Telangana panchayat polls with over 1900 wins

Hyderabad: The Congress party has emerged as the clear frontrunner in the second phase of panchayat elections in Telangana. They have secured victory in 1,952 out of the 3,784 seats declared by Sunday afternoon.

Out of 4,332 total panchayats that went to polls, results for most seats were announced after counting began post-noon. As of the latest update, BRS had won 1,044 seats, BJP secured 225, and independents or others claimed 559 panchayats. Results from the remaining seats are still being declared.

The polling, held earlier in the day, saw active participation across rural Telangana. Congress, which also performed strongly in the first phase, has now consolidated its lead. They are waving their flag in a majority of villages and asserting their strength in grassroots politics.

Congress extends rural reach as BRS, BJP trail

The outcome marks a significant political shift. Congress is outperforming rivals BRS and BJP in back-to-back phases. Party leaders credited the result to strong village-level coordination, popular welfare schemes, and direct public engagement. This was under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud claimed that the results were a reflection of rural voters’ trust in the Congress government’s governance and delivery model.
