Hyderabad: The Congress will win nearly 70 per cent of the seats in the upcoming municipal elections, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud said.
Speaking to the media in Nizamabad, he said the party would select candidates based on surveys and issue B-Forms. He expressed confidence that voters would reward the Congress government’s development works.
Referring to the recent sarpanch polls, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress secured the highest number of posts. Therefore, he said the party would repeat the performance in the municipal elections as well.
Mahesh Kumar Goud targets BJP over religion-based politics
Turning to the Bharatiya Janata Party, the PCC chief accused it of seeking votes in the name of religion. He questioned who gave the BJP the right to invoke Lord Ram during elections.
While asserting his personal faith, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress never practised politics using the names of gods. Instead, he said elections should remain limited to the poll period, after which all parties must work together for development.
He further said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy cooperated with legislators from all parties. As an example, he cited the distribution of fine rice and confirmed that the government would sanction Indiramma houses in the second phase.
Additionally, he announced that the government would approve two more integrated schools for Nizamabad district. He also said the state planned to build a fourth city at the right time to decentralise development.
Criticising Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind, Mahesh Kumar Goud asked what the MP delivered to the district during his seven-year tenure. He alleged that the turmeric board issue remained unresolved.
On employment, he said the Congress government had already provided 80,000 jobs. Moreover, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fill two lakh government posts over the next three years, calling it a firm assurance to unemployed youth.
