Cold wave grips Telangana as temperatures fall sharply

Hyderabad: Cold wave conditions continued across Telangana. The India Meteorological Department warned that minimum temperatures may stay three to four degrees below normal for affected areas.

Several districts recorded single-digit minimum temperatures, according to official data. Adilabad and Patancheru reported lows of 7.2 degrees Celsius, indicating the widespread cold wave. Medak recorded 7.8 degrees, while Rajendranagar saw temperatures drop to 9 degrees.

Hanumakonda recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5 degrees. Nizamabad reported 11.7 degrees, while Ramagundam recorded 11.9 degrees. These readings showed the spread of cold conditions across the state.

Cold wave likely to remain severe in many districts

Reports said temperatures dropped to nearly 5 degrees in parts of Sangareddy district. The IMD said the cold weather would remain severe in northern and western Telangana districts, causing concern.

These districts include Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy. Officials said the lowering temperature may persist in these areas over the next two days.

Hyderabad also recorded single-digit temperatures in some localities. Officials advised people, especially children and the older people, to take precautions due to the ongoing cold wave.

Authorities warned residents to avoid long exposure to cold weather as the cold wave continued across Telangana.
