HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reiterated that the Congress government remains committed to conducting a caste census, fulfilling a key promise made by Rahul Gandhi. Speaking at an event, Reddy highlighted that Gandhi had undertaken the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to understand the struggles of the people. He asserted that courts have ruled that reservations cannot be granted without accurate caste data.
The Chief Minister stated that Congress believes in fair allocation of resources and opportunities based on population proportions. He emphasised that within 100 days of coming to power, the Telangana government had passed a resolution in favour of conducting a caste census. Reddy further announced that February 4 will be observed as Social Justice Day in the state.
Highlighting the party’s dedication to equitable governance, CM Revanth Reddy assured that Congress will continue to prioritise social justice measures if elected at the national level. The remarks come amid ongoing political debates over caste-based reservations and census data across India.
