Kharge Meeting

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy called on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Hyderabad on Friday to review caste survey findings, BC reservation issues, and election preparedness for the forthcoming local body polls.

The discussion took place behind closed doors before the Congress Political Affairs Committee session at Gandhi Bhavan, where Kharge and AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal will brief party office-bearers on poll coordination.

Party sources indicated a section of Congress MLAs left out of cabinet allocations also placed their objections before Kharge during separate interactions, pressing for a settlement of their grievances.

The PAC meeting is likely to finalise a broader strategy for the civic elections, with focus on public outreach for welfare schemes, as well as reinforcing the party’s grassroots networks.

Kharge, addressing senior leaders, reportedly underlined the need for disciplined messaging and coordinated welfare campaigns across villages. He called for collective effort as local elections approach.

Internal rifts over potential candidates are also on the agenda, with leaders keen to avert factional tensions that could hurt the party’s performance.

Kharge is scheduled to address the “Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri” rally at LB Stadium in the evening, part of Congress’s push for a social justice narrative across Telangana.
