Hyderabad: Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu said IndiGo must face consequences for the Indigo operations crisis, stressing that the airline caused severe inconvenience to thousands of passengers. He explained that IndiGo’s internal management issue had moved close to resolution. Moreover, he said the government would not overlook the hardship faced by travellers and insisted that the airline accept responsibility for the disruption.
Naidu pointed out that the new Flight Duty Time Limitation rules came into force on November 1. Other airlines, however, followed the rules without difficulty. IndiGo alone struggled with the procedures, and he said this clearly showed where the fault lay. Furthermore, he asked why only one carrier encountered trouble when the rest of the sector adopted the same standards smoothly.
Indigo operations crisis shows clear signs of improvement
The minister said congestion dropped at major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, as the situation improved. In addition, he said IndiGo would begin operating with partial capacity from Saturday while the airline stabilised its schedules. He added that IndiGo would restore full operations within a few days once the remaining gaps are cleared. Finally, he said the government would continue monitoring the matter because passenger safety and service continuity required firm oversight.
