Chiranjeevi moves High Court over delay in GHMC permit for home renovation

Hyderabad: Actor Chiranjeevi has approached the Telangana High Court over the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s delay in processing his application for a renovation permit at his Jubilee Hills residence.

Chiranjeevi informed the court that the original construction, completed in 2000 with requisite approvals during N. Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure, now required structural upgrades. Despite submitting all necessary documentation to GHMC, officials reportedly failed to respond even after a month.

Frustrated by the inaction, Chiranjeevi filed a petition seeking judicial direction. During the hearing, the bench expressed sharp criticism of GHMC, questioning its inability to process a legitimate request and accusing it of encouraging illegal constructions while ignoring lawful applications.

The court instructed GHMC to immediately issue the required permit, warning against further delay.
