Hyderabad: The Election Commission has removed former BRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh from the voter list of Vemulawada Assembly constituency following confirmation by the Telangana High Court that he holds German citizenship.
Officials served a formal notice at his residence, Sangeetha Nilayam in Vemulawada, and also dispatched it via registered post. The deletion was carried out under Form 7 provisions.
The move follows the Telangana High Court’s December 2024 order revoking Ramesh’s Indian citizenship. The court found that Ramesh had submitted false documents and held German citizenship. The court also imposed a fine of ₹30 lakh on him.
Ramesh’s disqualification stems from the legal determination that he is no longer an Indian citizen and thus ineligible to remain on the electoral rolls.
