Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Reddy launched a sharp counterattack on senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao, accusing him of misleading voters ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election. He challenged Harish Rao to explain where the promised one lakh houses were built and who received them.
Speaking on Sunday, Chamala alleged that the previous BRS government had misused administrative power to illegally occupy canals and label them as tanks. He blamed the party for poor urban planning that had left Hyderabad paralysed even after light rains.
Chamala dismissed Harish Rao’s campaign comments as politically motivated, made only because elections were near. He said BRS, once confident in Harish Rao’s abilities during bypolls, now faced rejection from voters.
Chamala says BRS cannot win Jubilee Hills with money or sentiment
Referring to the Huzurabad by-election, Chamala said the public was aware of the money spent by BRS then and claimed the party planned similar tactics in Jubilee Hills. However, he asserted that such strategies would not work against Congress candidate Naveen Yadav.
He added that BRS was using emotional appeals and diversionary tactics instead of addressing development issues. Chamala said voters would decide on November 11 who had relied on money and muscle power.
He accused BRS of attempting to mislead voters in Jubilee Hills and said the people were not naïve. “Your party is on the verge of collapse,” Chamala warned, adding that the election results would serve as a slap in the face to BRS leaders.
