Chamakura Malla Reddy to quit politics after next election

Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister Chamakura Malla Reddy announced that he planned to retire from politics by the next election, while confirming he remained in the party for now. Speaking to reporters at his office on Saturday after celebrating Rakhi festival with his sisters, Malla Reddy said he had no intention of joining the BJP or TDP.

The 73-year-old legislator recalled that he had launched his engineering colleges on a Rakhi day, adding that the festival remained special for him. He stressed that he was still with the BRS and dismissed speculation about shifting to other parties.

“I have been MP, MLA and minister. I will stay in politics for another three years,” he told the media. Reddy stated that he wished to withdraw from political life entirely and focus on running his colleges and universities.
