Cabinet expansion hopes dashed as Revanth Reddy’s Delhi trip postponed

Hyderabad: The much-anticipated expansion of the Telangana cabinet and the long-awaited appointments within the state Congress unit have hit a stumbling block after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s scheduled trip to Delhi was abruptly called off.

Party circles had been abuzz with speculation that a final decision on the cabinet expansion would be made once the Chief Minister met with top Congress leaders in the national capital. However, the sudden postponement of the trip has left many aspirants disheartened.

According to party sources, the Congress high command had summoned both Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud to Delhi for crucial discussions on party matters. A meeting was planned for Friday, but it is learnt that Revanth Reddy cancelled his trip after failing to secure an appointment with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Last Sunday, both Revanth Reddy and Mahesh Kumar Goud had already met AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal in Delhi. They were asked to stay on till Monday to hold further talks with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, but reportedly had to return to Hyderabad as they couldn’t get an appointment.

Sources said the AICC once again asked both leaders to return to Delhi on Friday, but with no confirmation from Kharge’s office, the plans were dropped at the last minute. Gandhi Bhavan sources confirmed that the postponement was due to scheduling difficulties rather than any political differences.

With hopes of a cabinet expansion now deferred, party loyalists will have to wait longer to see their fortunes change.
