BRS MLC Dr Dasoju Sravan demands withdrawal of FIRs in Borabanda

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dr Dasoju Sravan on Sunday demanded the immediate withdrawal of police cases against Masjid Committee members in Borabanda. The members were booked under FIR No.529/2025 after they peacefully requested graveyard land following Jumma prayers.

Dr Sravan called the action “brutal and inhuman.” He said the police filed the FIR on their own, influenced by a local Congress corporator. Instead of acting on a valid humanitarian request, the Congress government pressed criminal charges, he alleged.

For several years, Muslims in Borabanda and nearby areas have asked for graveyard land. However, successive governments have ignored the appeals. As a result, families now struggle to bury their loved ones with dignity.

Dr Sravan said graveyard land is not a political favour but a constitutional responsibility. Denying it, he argued, violates Articles 21 and 25 of the Constitution, which protect the right to life and the freedom of religion.

FIRs over Borabanda Muslims graveyard protest violate basic rights, says Dr Sravan

He accused the Congress government of oppressing minorities while claiming to promote secularism. According to him, people who prayed and pleaded with folded hands were instead punished with police action.

The MLC said this treatment humiliates vulnerable communities and adds to their trauma. He described it as state-backed betrayal, not governance. He warned that continued oppression would trigger resistance from the public.

Dr Sravan demanded that the government drop the “false FIRs” and immediately allocate land for a graveyard in Borabanda. “Telangana was not created for minorities to live in fear and humiliation,” he said.
