Hyderabad: BRS MLAs staged a dramatic walkout from the Telangana Assembly on Sunday, accusing the Congress government of denying them time to speak during the debate on the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission report. The legislators marched to Gun Park on foot and threw copies of the report into a trash bin, calling it a politically motivated document.
Former Minister and MLA T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress was conspiring to damage former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s image. “You may try every trick, but the people of Telangana will not believe your lies,” he said.
BRS protest Ghose report as political conspiracy
Harish Rao warned the Congress not to harm Telangana’s interests in its attempts to target BRS. “Muddying Medigadda is like giving up our share of Godavari water,” he said. He demanded immediate repairs to the Medigadda pillars and urged the government to resume lifting unused Godavari water without delay.
He also challenged Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to prove the Congress government’s claims. “We created 17 lakh acres of new ayacut and stabilised 20 lakh more. If I prove we irrigated 37 lakh acres, will you resign as Deputy CM?” he asked.
KTR alleges Congress-BJP plot to shut down Kaleshwaram
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress and BJP of jointly attempting to shut down the Kaleshwaram project permanently. He said the Congress was plotting to dismantle Medigadda in order to justify diversion of Godavari water to Banakacharla.
