Hyderabad: BRS MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy on Friday firmly denied allegations of land encroachment near Durgam Cheruvu. He stated that he neither owns any property in the tank area nor occupied even an inch of government land.
Calling the accusations “baseless and malicious,” Reddy directly challenged the State government and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to present proof. He said he is ready to face legal consequences if any encroachment is established.
Prabhakar Reddy denies encroachment, says land compensated through TDR
Reddy explained that he had purchased the land through an auction. However, the authorities later invalidated the sale. In return, they issued him Transferable Development Rights (TDR) as compensation. According to him, the police case pertains only to a private parking issue and not to any public land encroachment.
“There is no government land at the site. HMDA filed the complaint—not any individual,” he said. He added that actor Balakrishna and Haribabu of Lahari Estate also own land in the same area. No private party has lodged a complaint, he noted.
Reddy said he would cooperate with the investigation and would visit the police station. He warned that if the authorities fail to withdraw the case unconditionally, he and his supporters would launch a protest in front of houses built within the Full Tank Level (FTL) zone.
“We will fight this case legally,” he declared.
