HYDERABAD: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has finalised Dasoju Sravan as its candidate for the MLC elections under the MLA quota.
Party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) made the decision, and Sravan is set to file his nomination tomorrow morning. BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has been instructed to oversee the nomination process closely.
Currently, five MLC seats under the MLA quota are vacant in Telangana. The Election Commission of India recently issued a notification for these elections, with nominations open until the 10th of this month. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is the 13th, while the elections will be held on the 20th, with results announced on the same day.
Based on the strength of MLAs in the state assembly, three MLC seats are expected to go to the Congress, while one seat will be secured by BRS. For the fifth seat, the Congress will require additional votes, including support from AIMIM and other members.
The Congress party has already announced its three candidates for the MLC elections under the MLA quota. AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal confirmed that Vijayashanti, Addanki Dayakar, and Shankar Naik have been selected. Additionally, Congress has allocated one MLC seat to the Communist Party of India (CPI), and it is likely that Chada Venkat Reddy will be the candidate for that position.
