BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha faces allegations in Jubilee Hills bypoll

Hyderabad: A major controversy hit Telangana politics ahead of the Jubilee Hills bypoll as serious allegations surfaced against BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha. The issue began when Tarak Pradyumna, son of late MLA Maganti Gopinath’s first wife, levelled personal accusations against her.

Gopinath’s son questions Sunitha’s marital status

Pradyumna claimed that his father, Maganti Gopinath, never divorced his first wife, Malini Devi. “My mother remains his legal wife. If that is true, how can Sunitha claim to be his wife?” he asked.

He alleged that Gopinath and Sunitha never married formally and only lived together. He also declared himself the rightful heir to his father’s estate and political legacy.

Demand to cancel Sunitha’s nomination

Pradyumna insisted that the MLA ticket should legally belong to his mother. He accused Sunitha of using her followers to threaten his family and demanded that election officials cancel her nomination immediately.

The Jubilee Hills bypoll followed the death of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath. The nomination process ended yesterday. However, the allegations surfaced today and immediately shook state political circles.

Meanwhile, party insiders said Sunitha will issue a statement soon to clarify her position.
