Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi organised a blood donation camp at its Banjara Hills office, where president Kalvakuntla Kavitha donated blood with leaders and volunteers. She said the programme honoured Telangana martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the statehood movement.
Kavitha stated that the camp offered a tribute to those who fought for Telangana. Moreover, she noted that several Jagruthi leaders participated in large numbers. She added that the organisation remembered martyrs who made the struggle possible.
Blood donation camp recalls sacrifices of martyrs
Kavitha said Telangana emerged through KCR’s fast, the sacrifices of martyrs, the efforts of students and the support of people. However, she criticised earlier MLAs and ministers for ignoring movement activists even when KCR was in power. She said families felt hurt because leaders failed to honour those who fought for statehood.

She recalled that the movement claimed 1,200 activists had died, yet only 540 families received assistance. Furthermore, she said those families did not receive respect on State Formation Day, since they were not invited and did not receive a shawl. She also observed that many lacked identity cards and recognition, which she noticed while travelling across Telangana.
According to her, Congress came to power after promising to correct those failures. She said the party assured identity cards, pensions and 250-yard plots for movement activists. She urged the chief minister to announce these measures on December 9 as promised.
Kavitha demands action on plots, pensions and IDs
Kavitha said the process of issuing pensions and identity cards must begin immediately. She added that the government delayed applications for two years. Additionally, she said activists and their families did not receive respect even during state celebrations.
She stated that the chief minister visited the martyrs’ memorial only after Jagruthi demanded it. Moreover, she said the government did not raise Jai Telangana during those events. She added that the chief minister held office because of the martyrs’ struggle and must honour commitments made to their families.
Consequently, she warned that Jagruthi would launch land-related agitations if the government failed to announce plots for activists on December 9. She said Jagruthi would take activists to government land and distribute it among them. She added that activists earned Telangana through their blood and sweat and therefore deserved land.
Kavitha said Jagruthi would plant its flags on government land during those protests. She demanded a clear announcement on December 9 and warned that land agitations would begin if the promise was not fulfilled.
