Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday asserted that the Jubilee Hills by-election will see a direct contest between the BJP and the AIMIM, dismissing the Congress as irrelevant in the race.
Addressing a rally after BJP candidate Deepak Reddy filed his nomination, Rao said the Congress had lost the trust of voters. He accused the party of staging a pretence by fielding a candidate who had earlier contested on an AIMIM ticket. “This by-election marks the first step towards governance change in Telangana,” he told the gathering.
Jubilee Hills by-poll debate driven by civic failures, says BJP
Rao highlighted the severe civic neglect in Hyderabad and Secunderabad as a central issue. He cited overflowing drains, unbearable odours, and broken roads as examples of mismanagement. “When even affluent colonies suffer like this, the state of ordinary neighbourhoods can only be imagined,” he said.
Blaming the Congress government, Rao argued it had failed to deliver basic amenities. He criticised its failure to implement the promised six guarantees and 420 development commitments, including civic infrastructure in Hyderabad.
BJP projects itself as only credible alternative in Telangana
Continuing his attack, Rao said both the Congress and the previous BRS government had let the city down. He accused the Congress of using misinformation to mislead Jubilee Hills voters, calling its campaign a mix of lies and false promises.
He insisted that only a BJP-led government could offer Hyderabad genuine development, civic renewal, and law and order. “People are now looking to the BJP for real progress, transparency, and reliable governance,” Rao said.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and several other senior BJP leaders joined the rally in support of Deepak Reddy’s candidacy.
