Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Lankala Deepak Reddy as its candidate for the Jubilee Hills by-election. The party ended speculation by confirming his name on Wednesday.
Deepak Reddy contested from Jubilee Hills in the 2023 Assembly election and secured the third position. He now serves as the BJP Central District President and maintains close ties with Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.
BJP picks Lankala Deepak Reddy for Jubilee Hills by-election
Several names, including Juturu Keerthi Reddy, Veerapaneni Padma, and Vikram Goud, were in the race. However, the BJP leadership chose Deepak Reddy after assessing his local influence and organisational work.
With this announcement, the main fight in the Jubilee Hills by-election will be between Maganti Sunitha of the BRS, Naveen Yadav of the Congress, and Lankala Deepak Reddy of the BJP.
Party insiders said Juturu Keerthi Reddy expected the ticket but felt disappointed after the decision. Meanwhile, BJP leaders said the party would campaign aggressively to reclaim the urban seat.
