Hyderabad: BJP Telangana state president and former MLC N. Ramachander Rao was conferred the Swami Vivekananda Excellence Award 2026 for his four-decade-long service in student and youth outreach, law awareness, and political leadership.
The Telangana Intellectuals Forum presented the award during a function held at Ramachander Rao’s Tarnaka residence on Saturday, marking the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. This year, he was the only recipient from Telangana.
Ramachander Rao recalled Swami Vivekananda’s message to the world on the greatness of Sanatana Dharma. He urged today’s youth to take inspiration from Vivekananda’s ideals and contribute to national unity and development through disciplined, purpose-driven lives.

Forum president Dr Raj Narayana Mudiraj also called on the youth to stand against corruption, disorder, and social evils. Environmentalist and educationist Dr Komatireddy Gopal Reddy emphasised the youth’s role in shaping India’s future.
The forum cited Ramachander Rao’s consistent leadership in the BJP’s student and youth wings over 45 years. It also acknowledged his efforts as a High Court advocate, where he conducted legal awareness camps and contributed to public education on justice.
Public figures including forum secretary Prof Mohammed Akther Ali, Osmania University Assistant Professor Dr Raviteja Chauhan, and TIF coordinator G. Venugopal attended the event. They felicitated Ramachander Rao with a shawl, garland, and memento, and congratulated him on the award.
