Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday blamed the Congress government for legal lapses that led to the Telangana High Court’s stay on GO No. 9, which proposed 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections.
Rao, speaking to reporters, said the Congress released election notifications before the Governor’s three-month review period expired. He called the move illegal and urged the government to approach the Supreme Court to rectify the legal flaws and secure justice for BCs.

He accused the Congress of politicising the reservation issue and misleading the public by wrongly blaming the BJP. He said the BJP supports BC reservations and pointed to the party’s push for a 57% quota in Madhya Pradesh.
Rao also criticised the Congress for making repeated legal missteps in drafting Bills, issuing ordinances, and publishing notifications. He claimed that those who filed petitions against the quota in the High Court were connected to the Congress.
