Hyderabad: A man identified as Sudhakar attempted suicide by pouring petrol on himself and setting himself ablaze at Bhimgal police station in Nizamabad district. He suffered severe injuries and was shifted to Armoor government hospital for better treatment. His condition remained critical.
Sudhakar runs a hotel in Bhimgal town. According to his family, alleged police harassment led him to attempt suicide. The incident followed a dispute over tables placed outside his hotel along the roadside.
After 10 pm, Sudhakar had placed tables outside his hotel. Patrol police asked him to remove them. He responded to the police and later pleaded with them to leave the tables. However, the police removed them.
Following the incident, SI Tirupathi registered a case against Sudhakar. Police later called him to the Bhimgal police station and told him to go to court.
Sudhakar reportedly became deeply distressed after being called to the station. He had brought petrol with him and later poured it over himself before setting himself on fire.
