HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance and Electricity, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has launched a series of development projects under the Telangana Irrigation initiative to supply water to all agricultural lands in the Madhira constituency. On Sunday, he laid foundation stones and inaugurated various works in the villages of Madhira mandal in Khammam district, amounting to ₹72.33 crore.

A check dam is being constructed on the Wyra river at a cost of ₹6.85 crore. This dam will store water over a 1.5-kilometre stretch, help recharge groundwater, and irrigate 1,240 acres of farmland. Additionally, he laid foundation stones for the construction of a government junior college at ₹5 crore and an ITI college building at ₹1,137.21 crore.

A major lift irrigation project, the Mahadevpuram Lift Irrigation Scheme, was inaugurated on the Wyra river from Sripuram to Mahadevpuram village at a cost of ₹1,213.95 crore. This scheme will lift 16.40 cusecs of water to irrigate 952 acres. Another lift irrigation project costing ₹1,906 crore was launched at Rayapatnam village on the right canal of the Wyra river to irrigate 1,079 acres.

Bhatti Vikramarka stated that plans are being implemented to bring water from the Sagar reservoir to the farthest agricultural lands of the Madhira constituency. He held a review meeting with irrigation department officials and directed them to set weekly, fortnightly, and monthly targets to ensure timely completion of the projects.

A mega job fair will be held on Monday at Reddy Gardens Function Hall in Madhira for unemployed youth of the constituency, under the supervision of the Deputy CM. Around 80 private companies are expected to participate. Interviews will be conducted based on candidates’ educational qualifications, and appointment letters will be issued to those selected. Special QR code-based registration has been arranged for the event.
