Bhatti Vikramarka pays tribute to Jyotirao Phule at Centre for Dalit Studies

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Friday paid tribute to Mahatma Jyotirao Phule at the Centre for Dalit Studies (CDS) near Yusufguda and praised Phule as a towering figure who fought relentlessly for social justice and guided the marginalised sections of society.

Speaking to the media after garlanding Phule’s portrait at the CDS premises, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that Phule led a massive struggle for the rights of backward classes and women across the country, becoming a beacon for those communities.

He emphasised that on the occasion of Phule Jayanti, everyone should remember Phule’s contributions and strive to realise his ideals. He asserted that the Congress Party and the people’s government are committed to working in the direction shown by Phule.

The Deputy Chief Minister appealed to all individuals who aspire to work for the upliftment of weaker sections to take Phule Jayanti as an opportunity to rededicate themselves to bringing light into the lives of marginalised communities.

He stressed the importance of enabling the socially and economically disadvantaged to become self-reliant and live with dignity and self-respect. He also noted that Dr B.R. Ambedkar regarded Jyotirao Phule as his guru and implemented his principles in practice.

The event was attended by SC Corporation Principal Secretary Sridhar, CDS organiser Mallepalli Laxmaiah, senior journalist Ramachandra Murthy, and others.
