Bhatti Vikramarka says corporate, fascist forces threatening democracy

Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday accused corporate and fascist forces of attacking India’s parliamentary democracy. He said these groups are diverting attention from key economic and social issues by invoking religious sentiment.

He made these remarks while addressing a national seminar in Khammam, held to mark the CPI’s centenary celebrations.

Bhatti calls for united resistance to defend democracy

Bhatti Vikramarka urged Left parties to form a united front. He said coordinated struggles are crucial to counter corporate dominance and curb ideological misinformation.

He added that the Left must adapt to India’s evolving political landscape. According to him, it can no longer rely solely on traditional narratives of exploiters versus the exploited. “The time has come for a modern political strategy that reflects current conditions,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister also praised Khammam for embracing ideological diversity. He welcomed national Left leaders to the district and recognised the CPI’s long-standing role in the freedom struggle.

“It is our duty to protect the Constitution,” he said. He warned that neglecting this responsibility could result in ordinary citizens losing their basic rights. He further accused the BJP-led central government of trying to dismantle voting rights and amend the Constitution.

In conclusion, Bhatti Vikramarka called for a long-term alliance between the Congress and the Left. He said such cooperation is necessary to defend India’s democratic values.
