Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday launched the Indira Mahila Shakti celebrations at Praja Bhawan, disbursing ₹1.05 crore to 151 mandal-level women’s self-help groups operating hire buses under the TSRTC. Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Seethakka joined the event, highlighting the government’s push to prioritise women’s welfare.
At the same programme, the ministers released Mahalakshmi: Mahila Sadhikaarata lo Pragathi Chakralu, a compilation by women poets and writers focused on empowerment themes.
Bhatti Vikramarka criticised the previous administration for neglecting women’s federations and said the Congress government had placed women at the centre of its policy agenda. He pledged more programmes to encourage entrepreneurship and vowed to turn one crore women into lakhpathis through targeted support.
He stressed that ground-level outreach would drive change, making welfare schemes more visible and accessible. Interest-free loan cheques, he announced, would be distributed across Telangana from July 10 to 16.
Calling it a people’s government, Bhatti said empowering women household heads was the path to meaningful progress. Telangana, he said, would emerge as a national example in women’s advancement.
