BC Commission offers condolence for Sai Eshwar Chary, seeks 42% BC quota

Hyderabad: The Telangana BC Commission said statutory reservations for BCs faced continued injustice and called for a constitutional amendment to secure a 42 per cent quota in the State. Chairman G. Niranjan and Members condoled the death of Sai Eshwar Chary at Gandhi Hospital and observed a two-minute silence for him. They urged people to continue the struggle without risking their lives.

Niranjan said the Constitution allowed SCs and STs to receive reservations based on population. BCs, however, lacked similar protection despite a State survey and the Assembly’s approval of a 42 per cent quota. He said only a constitutional amendment could guarantee these reservations in Telangana.
